One of my long pending dreams finally fulfilled... A visit to NGR/KTL Falls... Have to thank Krishna Sir a lot for helping me to find this hidden beauty of WGs...
Another gorgeous Multi-tiered Waterfalls from the Western Ghats of Karnataka...
This falls is a two-tiered waterfalls with a height of about 200 feet which reaches River Aghanashini below...
This Falls is located about 10-12 Kms away from the main road deep inside the thick forests of WGs... Till date only some 20 people have visited this Falls (apart from the localites, of course)...
It was a really stunning Falls and certainly one of the most gorgeous falls one would ever come across... Infact, there's a story behind me visiting this Falls 'so early' which I would like to narrate...
Actually one of my FB friends had posted photos of later half (it's again a multi-tiered falls of about 06 stages) of another Falls nearby which looked similar... I had previously not seen this NGR/KTL Falls and one of my FB Friends who had seen it several times told me that these photos were of KTL Falls itself... I thought may be yes, as I had not seen it before... When asked about how you went to this Falls and how was the terrain, my FB friend who posted the photos said it was a very simple and easy trek which can be visited without much efforts... One more thing is that, I very much knew that visiting NGR falls is not such a easy one as the terrain would be very difficult which includes crossing the streams and getting down the hill which would be very slippery during this time of the year... Even the same was confirmed by others who had visited this Falls...
But when one of my FB friend told that this is the NGR falls itself and that when my other FB friend who posted the pics of 'other' falls said that the trek was a very simple one, I thought of visiting this Falls now itslef since the water level would be high now and that it's the best time to visit any Waterfalls as you all may know...
So I talked to my FB friend who had posted the pics and requested him to take me to that Falls one day... He kindly obliged and we fixed the date... I left Belgaum by boarding night 01:00AM bus and reached the nearest taluk point by morning 06:00AM... Even my other friend, who's native is hardly 10Kms from the GP of this village, also came all the way from Bangalore for taking me to this Falls and by the time we met it was 10:00AM...
As we were discussing, my FB friend and one more friend of him confirmed that this is not at all the NGR Falls and that this is another Falls nearby which I had visited previously... But I argued with him that this is the NGR Falls itslef... As we were arguing, he showed me the pics once again and after me going through it thoroughly, I was confirmed that this was not NGR/KTL Falls by any means...
I once again forwarded the pics to my FB Friend who had told that this was NGR Falls... He later after going through it, said that these pics were of another Falls and that it was not of NGR Falls...
I was very much disgusted and shattered solely because of the reason that I came all the way from Belgaum by night travel to visit one of my dream waterfalls... As I have said earlier, I was longing to visit this falls since many days...
Luckily, I had the contact number of a localite there (he was the same person who guided me to Aghanashini Valley below when I had visited it) who stays in the next village of that Falls and that he was the local guide there to that Falls... I contacted him over phone and enquired him about trekking to NGR Falls... He said that it's not that we cannot but the terrain would be bit slippery now... As I was longing to visit that Falls, we 03 of them decided to visit that falls finally...
We left the nearby taluk by 11:30 and reached the village by 12:30... We started our trekking without wasting much time and reached the stream by 01:30... On the way my guide was bit confused as to whether we can proceed further or not because even he was visiting the falls for first time during this time of the year (that's during peak monsoon season)... After trekking for more than an hour and reaching the stream, our guide said it's all upto to we guys now to decide whether we go further or return to the village... My other two friends siad that let us return, but I didn't leave it, I was very much firm minded and said that let us go further... On seeing my firmness, my guide went further and searched for appropriate place to cross the stream and trek further... He once again returned saying that he's ready to take us further but we should be ready to come with him... My other two friends once again were not ready, but I didn't leave, I was very much firm on visiting the falls... Finally we all agreed and went further... Believe it or not, it was hardly a 05-10 minutes walk from that point were we stood deciding...
